In today\u2019s newsletter we would like to draw your attention to the publication of the complete programme for the 53rd<\/sup> International Heinrich Sch\u00fctz Festival<\/a>, which will take place in the old Hanseatic town of Lemgo on 26-29 September 2024 in conjunction with the mixTour Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This enchanting Renaissance and Hanseatic town is an obvious location for a Sch\u00fctz Festival. The sixteenth- and seventeenth-century town centre, almost completely preserved as Heinrich Sch\u00fctz would have seen it during his travels to other Hanseatic towns in Northern Germany; the residence of Count Simon VI zur Lippe in Schloss Brake, where Sch\u00fctz\u2019s friend from his student years, Johann Grabbe, was employed; and the impeccably restored church of St. Marien, which transports us back to the sound world of the early seventeenth century \u2013 all these enable us to sense the importance of art and music in the everyday lives of seventeenth-century people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Together with the mixTour Festival 2024 as well as the Freundeskreis Weserrenaissance-Museum Schloss Brake e.V., we have prepared an extraordinary programme, which will take us musically to the old Hanseatic towns (Europ\u00e4isches Hanse-Ensemble<\/strong>), via Persia to Japan (Johann Rosenm\u00fcller Ensemble<\/strong>) and to Italy (Concerto Farinelli<\/strong>), even without us leaving County Lippe. The concert programme will be accompanied by a scholarly symposium<\/strong> under the heading Music and Cultural Transfer in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries<\/em>, led by Prof. Dr. Michael Meyer, as well as organ and city tours<\/strong>, a museum visit<\/strong> and a closing worship service<\/strong>. And we shall not miss out on a convivial gathering<\/strong> for our members either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
